I have been serving couples and individuals now as a counselor, coach and pastor for 25 years.  In all that time there have been a few emergencies, but really far fewer than you might imagine. Usually the person who calls imagining they have an emergency really is finally describing a situation that has existed for years or even decades but has just now reached the boiling point.  There are times when the assistance I offer is not how I can help re-attach a broken relationship but instead it is how they can find the strength to move on to happier days as the relationship is definitely terminal.  I know this is important work but frankly it is not something anyone other than a divorce lawyer working on commission enjoys.

I know lots of people think about making the call.  The connection that once was theirs has been missing and they aren't sure they can get it back.  They imagine too much time has past.  Too much water under the bridge.  Too many harsh or careless words have been spoken.

I know lots of people who dream of making the call.  Their memory is full of days when the spark was there and the intimacy was amazing but alas those are only memories.  They dream that the courage to make the call and do the investing required to return those happy days, but all they do is dream.

I know a few people who dare to make the call.  They step out with courage, faith and determination and they make the investment of time, money and attention for their relationship.  They dare to re-invent how they love and share their life with the love of their life.

I wonder if you will bother to make the call.  I would prefer to help you re-build your relationship rather than rebuild your life after the relationship has failed.
